Va. newspaper issues apology after major front-page mistake

A Fredericksburg, Va., newspaper issued an apology Tuesday morning after it accidentally identified former Old Dominion Gov. Bob McDonnell, a Republican whose corruption conviction was overturned this week by the Supreme Court, as the current governor, Democrat Terry McAuliffe, who’s currently under federal investigation for campaign contributions.

The Free-Lance Star’s front page, which included a great, big picture of McDonnell, read, “McAuliffe’s bribery convictions tossed.”
