Old tweets from Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., a Democratic presidential candidate, in which he talked about coffee and sleep as if they were romantic partners are getting a fresh look.
Anna Fitzpatrick, who identifies as a Toronto-based writer and editor, dug up the tweets from Booker dating to 2009 in a thread that quickly went viral this week.
“I broke up with sleep last night and I’m dating coffee this morning … I appreciate her warmth and stimulating company,” Booker tweeted in 2017 in response to someone wondering if he gets much sleep.

Another elaborate tweet from Booker came in 2009 when he was musing at 4 a.m. about the sleep which was eluding him.
“Coffee:sweet/strong elixir of life. U give vitality & I hunger 4 more, but into my night u slip only 2 steal the maiden of sleep from my bed,” Booker tweeted.

Actress Rosario Dawson, who recently confirmed that she and Booker are dating, liked a tweet highlighting one of Booker’s old tweets that said it was “fair game” for mocking.
