“My grandparents have always been the entertainers,” Josh Carter told the magazine. “But now we’re kind of the ones having to entertain. It’s different, it’s just a different era.”
In February, Jimmy Carter, 98, elected to enter hospice care. Three months later, it was announced that Rosalynn Carter, 96, has dementia.
Josh Carter said there’s been a close family member at the couple’s house since the former president entered hospice. He’s still “fully Jimmy Carter,” Josh Carter said, though he is no longer as active as he used to be just a couple of years ago.
“Odds are I’m gonna lose my grandfather before my grandmother,” Josh Carter said. “He’s in hospice care and she’s not, and it’s just math.”
