A 14-year-old girl was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly shooting and wounding a 13-year-old boy in Washington, D.C., police said.
The young boy was reportedly waiting for a bus to middle school on Monday when he was shot. Police said they received calls about a shooting around 4 p.m. that day and found the boy suffering from gunshot wounds.

So, it really shook the whole family to know that something like that happened to him.”

“Nothing like this has ever happened in our family, so he’s just recovering from surgery, and we’re taking it one day at a time,” the mother said.
After the shooting, police said they were looking for two suspects and that the motive was unclear. Police provided no update regarding the second suspect as of Tuesday.

The girl was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
