Arby’s to offer sweatsuits that smell like smoked meat

“When you’re sitting in a smokehouse, smoking the meat for Arby’s Real Country Style Rib Sandwich for hours and hours over real hickory wood, your brain starts to wander. You begin to wonder what a pair of premium sweats might smell like if they, too, were smoked over hickory wood for hours. Well, Arby’s found out,” according to the company’s website.

The “smoked sweats,” which are being sold in support of the limited-edition Arby’s Real Country Style Rib Sandwich, were “smoked in small batches” at a smokehouse in Texas, the website adds.

Additionally, Arby’s described the burgundy sweatshirts and sweatpants as being “made for everyone” who has ever wanted their sweatsuits to smell like they were “smoked over hickory wood by a Texas pitmaster.”

“The Smoked Sweats contain a profuse scent of hickory smoke,” a spokeswoman from Arby’s told the Washington Examiner. She advised that they “only be opened where one wants real hickory smoke from east Texas to permeate.”

Customers are told not to wash the “smoked sweats” in the washing instructions, the spokeswoman explained. If the sweats have to be cleaned, they are told to “wash on cold and hang dry over a hickory wood fire” to preserve the smokey scent.

The promotional apparel was created with the same “level of craft and care that goes into Arby’s Real Country Style Rib Sandwich,” the company added.

The Arby’s “smoked sweats” will go on sale Monday, Oct 4. at noon, the spokeswoman said.
