FORT MILL, S.C. (AP) — The Carowinds theme park on the South Carolina-North Carolina state line has opened for 2013.
The amusement park opened for the year late Friday morning.
Dinosaurs Alive! Is the big new attraction. It includes 32 life-sized dinosaurs in a five-acre section that use to house the picnic area.
Some of the dinosaurs roar and move on command.
The attraction includes a 3-D movie that is included in park admission and the dinosaur display that carries a $5 per person charge.
There is a new picnic and catering center that can feed up to 15,000 people a day.
The park has also refurbished its classic wooden roller coaster, Thunder Road, to make it smoother.
