‘I had the longest cough’: Ex-Trump adviser Sebastian Gorka claims he had undiagnosed coronavirus in January

Sebastian Gorka, a former adviser to President Trump, claimed he had an undiagnosed case of coronavirus back in January.

The first case of coronavirus in the United States was confirmed on Jan. 21 in a man from Washington state. Gorka said during his radio show that he believes he contracted coronavirus in January, as well.

“I had it in January. I had the longest cough. They put me on one of these little inhaler thingies, and I think I had it back in January. And I’ve heard this story so many times,” Gorka said.

He continued, “I think we will all find out that many, many more people have had it then. That’s why the mortality figures are going to work out to be much better than we expected.”

Gorka was present at CPAC in mid-February, where at least one guest had a confirmed case of the coronavirus. Several prominent Republicans entered a self-quarantine after coming into contact with the guest who had the virus.

The first cases of community spread in the U.S. were not reported until late February. All other cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. could be connected to an individual who had traveled to China or other infected countries.

Gorka advised Trump during his first few months in office. He left the White House in April 2017.
