LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — High school students in Tippecanoe County could join Lafayette officials on a trip to Japan this summer.
Students will travel to Ota, Japan, as part of the area’s 20-year sister city relationship with the Japanese city. The Greater Lafayette Sister City Committee youth trip is scheduled for July 10 through July 19.
Television station WLFI reports (http://bit.ly/11LhCTO ) high school students or recent graduates must apply for the youth trip by March 15. Participants will be chosen based on their interest in Japan, their willingness to participate in a fundraising project and their application’s creativity.
Students will stay with host families in the city about 85 miles from Tokyo. They’ll participate in a traditional Japanese festival and will be accompanied by adult chaperones.
