U.S. House candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hit the campaign trail with Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in Kansas on Friday, during which she attempted to preview a possible “blue wave” come November.
In doing so, however, she mixed up the traditional colors of the Republican and Democratic parties.
“So excited to be hopping on here,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a video posted to Sanders’ Twitter account. “We’re here in Kansas City to rally for Brent Welder. We’re going to flip this seat red in November.”

Ocasio-Cortez, a Democratic Socialist and former bartender, burst onto the national scene when she defeated incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in the Democratic primary for New York’s 14th Congressional District last month.
Crowley is currently the chairman of the House Democratic caucus and was considered one of the favorites to be the next speaker if Democrats took back the chamber in the midterm elections.
