Jamie Dimon backs Trump: ‘Look at the policy, forget the tweets’

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said Thursday that he has confidence in President Trump’s new administration, and said the rally kicked off by Trump’s election is real.

“Look at the policy, forget the tweets,” Dimon said of Trump in an interview on Bloomberg TV Thursday morning.

Trump, he said, has surrounded himself with “serious people with deep knowledge and deep experience” who are aiming to implement pro-business policies such as tax and regulatory reform, as well as infrastructure investment. Business is expanding, Dimon argued, because of growing confidence that Trump and the Republican Congress will enact favorable policies.

Those policies will boost economic growth even if they are only partially implemented, Dimon said.

“It seems like he’s woken up the animal spirits,” Dimon said.

Some of the Trump aides Dimon referenced are from his own industry, including Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, a former banker and Goldman Sachs employee, and National Economic Council director Gary Cohn, formerly the president of Goldman Sachs.
