SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — The Illinois Senate has approved a November ballot question asking voters if they think prescription drug coverage plans should include birth control.

Senate lawmakers voted 31-18 on Thursday to approve the measure. Illinois already requires insurance providers that cover prescription drugs to also cover FDA-approved contraceptive drugs for women. Stat Sen. Iris Martinez sponsored that legislation, which became law in 2003.
