WATCH: Johnny Depp details abuse he suffered as a child during defamation trial

Johnny Depp is opening up about the abuse he suffered as a child.

The actor took the stand Tuesday in his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard and discussed at length the times his father hit him with a belt.

Depp also said he and his siblings were hit by their mother.

At times, his parents fought with each other, but he reported never seeing his father strike his mother. Instead, Depp’s father would attempt to de-escalate a fight by leaving or hitting inanimate objects.

“Saw my father strike a wall, two, three times,” Depp said. “Once he broke his hand.”

In the same vein, Depp testified he was like his father, again dismissing allegations that he’d ever hit Heard.

“Never did I myself reach the point of striking Ms. Heard in any way, nor have I ever struck any woman in my life,” Depp said.

Meanwhile, Depp’s mother often called her children demeaning names. Depp’s brother wore glasses and had crooked teeth, earning him the nicknames “four eyes” and “bucktooth” by his mother. She called Depp “cockeye” because of his lazy eye as a child.

Depp testified that he initiated a lawsuit against Heard to tell the true story, saying he is “obsessed with the truth.” He called his ex’s allegations of abuse “heinous and disturbing.”
