A District government team “focused on minimizing regulatory burdens and advancing growth for startups” placed third in a competition last weekend graded by small business owners. The win comes after a report surveying small businesses gave the city a failing grade in friendliness to business owners. A separate report also found that D.C. is one of the more cumbersome cities in which to obtain a business license.
The competition, Startup Weekend E-Government, was sponsored by the Kauffman Foundation and is a weekend-long event when developers, designers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams, build products and launch startups.
