George Conway, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway’s husband, said Rudy Giuliani “destroyed his reputation” representing President Trump.
In a late-night tweet Saturday, Conway took shots at Giuliani’s legal career.
“He became an embarrassment to the legal profession. People have made lots of jokes about it, including me. But it’s actually quite sad. He destroyed his reputation for Donald J. Trump. How could that possibly have been worth it?” Conway said.

He was reacting to reporting from the Washington Examiner in which Giuliani said he plans to depart his role as Trump’s personal attorney after he finishes “cleanup” from special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.
The former New York City mayor, who once led the federal prosecutor’s office in Manhattan, has been a key Trump spokesman and strategist since joining his legal team in April 2018 after Trump struggled to attract other legal talent, in part due to legal conflicts on the part of the attorneys.
Conway, a conservative lawyer, has repeatedly grabbed headlines by questioning the president’s mental health and condemning his actions and comments. He has also been critical of Giuliani this year for some of the gaffes he made while appearing on TV.
Author Michael Wolff wrote in his new book Siege: Trump Under Fire that Conway began criticizing Trump on Twitter after Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, a prominent Wall Street firm where Conway is a partner, placed “enormous pressure” on him to “distance himself from Trump and his lies.”
