Donald Trump on Monday praised two of his potential picks for vice president, Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, while promising to meet with a third, Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst.
“I look forward to meeting [Ernst] today in New Jersey. She has done a great job as Senator of Iowa!” Trump said in one of the messages on Twitter.

He also said Cotton had been “great” on Sunday’s edition of “Meet the Press.” “Despite a totally one-sided interview by Chuck Todd, the end result was solid!” He added, “Spent time with [Pence] and family yesterday. Very impressed, great people!”
Despite endorsing Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in the presidential primary, Pence has been widely thought of as a mild-mannered possibility for a running mate who could help Trump to improve his credentials among conservatives.

Cotton, who along with Ernst is one of four veterans of the War on Terror serving in the Senate, has been thought of as an option who could strengthen the GOP ticket on foreign policy, but he was accused on Sunday of lacking enthusiasm for Trump by NBC host Chuck Todd.
“You don’t come across as an enthusiastic Trump supporter. Is that fair?” Todd questioned. Cotton replied, “Maybe I don’t just demonstrate enthusiasm much in life, Chuck, especially in such dangerous times as these.”
Ernst, obviously, could help Trump appeal to more women, and as a veteran would also give him more foreign policy credibility.
