President-elect Trump will meet with Kentucky Lt. Gov. Jenean Hampton on Friday, following his highly anticipated intelligence briefing on Russia’s election-related cyberactivity.
Incoming White House press secretary Sean Spicer announced Hampton’s visit to Trump Tower on a conference call with reporters Friday morning. Though he declined to comment on the nature of the upcoming meeting, the timing is interesting considering Hampton served as a computer systems officer in the U.S. Air Force for seven years and recently conducted a training seminar with Kentucky state officials on how to manage and combat cyber threats.
Her sit-down with Trump is the only public meeting the president-elect has scheduled for Friday after leaders in the intelligence community brief him on Russia’s hack-and-release operations.
“President-elect Trump meets with people all the time who have ideas, advice and expertise that can help him move the country forward,” Spicer said.
Hampton became the first African-American to be elected to statewide office in the Bluegrass State in November 2015 after running alongside Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Bevin.
