BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Two homeless men have pleaded not guilty to charges related to the shooting death of a New York concert violinist during a robbery at her home.
Jonathan Conklin and Charles Sanford were arraigned in Buffalo Tuesday on a federal indictment charging them with carjacking, using a gun during a violent crime and weapons possession.
They’re accused of killing Mary Whitaker in her Chautauqua County home on Aug. 20. They were arrested in nearby Erie, Pennsylvania two days later.
In addition to the federal counts, Conklin and Sanford are also expected to be charged with murder in Chautauqua County.
