Mitt Romney once jumped into the ring to fight a former heavyweight champion. The itch to get back into the ring returned, this time as a fictional wrestler.
Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee and vocal critic of Donald Trump, dressed on Saturday night as Jack Black’s “Nacho Libre” character (Luchador) and wrestled for charity, fighting against two others donning WWE-like outfits in Salt Lake City, Utah.
After jumping in the ring, the former Massachusetts governor slammed one of the masked men to the ground twice before another wrestler grabbed him by his arms and the other ripped off his mask, revealing Romney to cheers throughout the crowd and the “Rocky” theme song, “Gonna Fly Now.”
The event was a fundraiser for CharityVision, the same group that raised money when Romney fought former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield last year in Salt Lake City. The event took place as Romney hosted Republicans in Park City, Utah, for his annual retreat.
