In one of the biggest political upsets of the 2014 cycle, Congressman Eric Cantor, R-Va., was defeated by Tea Party-backed candidate David Brat in the GOP primary in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District. Cantor, long seen as the most likely to replace House Speaker John Boehner upon retirement, lost to Brat despite out-spending the upstart Tea Party candidate by millions of dollars.
