DeVry to open new offices in Chicago

CHICAGO (AP) — The for-profit education provider DeVry Inc. has announced plans to bring 600 jobs over nine years to new offices near Chicago’s Loop business district.

DeVry Online Services’ new offices will house senior executives, admissions and other administrative staff that will provide online services to its primary institution, DeVry University. In a statement, the company indicates it has filled 60 new positions and plans to hire an additional 400 “in the coming years.”

Construction of the 77,000 square foot offices also has created 120 temporary construction jobs.

DeVry CEO Daniel Hamburger says the Downers Grove-based company could have placed these employees anywhere in the country. But Hamburger says the combination of quality talent, resources and office space made Chicago the best choice.
