350th, 250th?

Published

In today’s newsletter, I segued from Alexander Hamilton and the ten dollar bill to a fine performance of Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro at Wolf Trap last week (don’t ask about the relationship, you had to be there–and in fact you can be there if you sign up here) but I then continued:

If you share a taste for Mozart, you might want to go back and read the fine appreciation of him by Fred Baumann in our issue a few years ago celebrating his 350th birthday.”

Oops. Well, a century here, a century there. It was Mozart’s 250th birthday that we commemorated in 2006. (And by the way, one connection of Hamilton and Mozart is that they were born only about a year apart.)
