Meghan McCain shames Ivanka Trump for silence on zero tolerance immigration policy

The View” co-host Meghan McCain called out President Trump’s daughter and White House aide Ivanka Trump on her silence regarding her father’s zero tolerance policy that has led to children being separated from their parents at the border.

“Where is Ivanka in all of this? Because she is all for women and mothers, and she has a White House role, and a job,” McCain said. “And I’m sort of interested that her whole platform has been women and mothers and she doesn’t seem to have anything to say about this.”

The daughter of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., often provides a voice for Republicans on the ABC talk show. Sen. McCain said in a tweet Monday that separating families is “an affront to the decency of the American people,” a rebuke that comes amid widespread backlash to the Trump administration’s new zero tolerance policy to prosecute all illegal immigrants.

All living former first ladies spoke out against the policy, and first lady Melania Trump said on Sunday that she hates to see children separated from their families.

The Trump administration is enforcing a zero tolerance policy at the border in which adults trying to cross into the country illegally are separated from their children while they are prosecuted.

Supporters of the policy have likened the separation to any other criminal parent who is no longer with their child after committing a crime.
