Joe Biden coughed into his hand on national television and was swiftly admonished by CNN’s Jake Tapper for not following recommended hygiene guidelines during the coronavirus pandemic.
Biden had mentioned that he has not yet talked to any potential vice presidential picks when he coughed.
“I have not talked to any individual,” the former vice president said during a CNN appearance on Tuesday before coughing into his hand. “Excuse me,” he added.
“You know, you’re supposed to cough into your elbow,” the CNN host said. “I learned that, actually, covering your White House.”
“Actually, that’s true. But fortunately, I’m alone in my home, but that’s OK. I agree. You’re right,” Biden said.
“It’s kind of old-school to do it with your hand,” Tapper said. “Do it into your elbow. You’re supposed to do it.”
Biden also said he has not been tested for the coronavirus and is not leaving his home.
