A woman and a child were shot in New York City’s Times Square, according to reports.

A portion of the commercial Manhattan intersection was closed down after shots rang out at approximately 4:55 p.m. near West 44th Street and 7th Avenue. Following a dispute that erupted between two to four men, a Hispanic 4-year-old girl from Brooklyn was shot in the leg, a female tourist from Rhode Island, 23, was also shot in the leg, and a 43-year-old Hispanic woman was shot in the foot, Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said during a press conference. The 4-year-old is expected to undergo surgery at Bellevue Hospital, he added.

Shea, who noted the victims “appear” to have been innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire, said authorities recovered three shell casings that looked to be .25-caliber.

Shea added police have one person of interest and at least one shooter. Police then released video of a person wanted in connection to the shooting.

The incident follows several recent high-profile shootings throughout the United States. Andrew Brown, Jr. was fatally shot by a sheriff’s deputy in North Carolina last month after the deputy attempted to serve a warrant, and the death of Ma’Khia Bryant, a teenager who was reportedly wielding a knife before being shot by a Columbus, Ohio, police officer, has led to an investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
