Rally takes ugly turn as Black Lives Matter protesters clash with Trump supporters

A Donald Trump rally in New Orleans took an ugly turn Friday evening as Black Lives Matter protesters clashed with the billionaire casino tycoon’s supporters.

There were multiple confrontations. One started after a handful of African-American protesters stood in the crowd with their hands in the air for roughly ten minutes, NBC News’ Katy Tur reported.

It didn’t take long before people in the crowd turned “vicious,” she added.

“Protestors [sic] now interrupting nearly every event. I’m told Trump team has added extra security for the crowd to throw out protestors [sic],” she said on social media, adding that Trump has enlisted the aide of his old security detail to deal with the increasingly rowdy crowds.

As the protesters chanted “Black lives matter,” they were promptly countered by chants of “all lives matter.”

Trump’s security detail eventually removed the BLM protesters, as rally-goers shouted and threw trash at them.

Elsewhere in the same arena, a man held high a sign that read “KKK 4 Trump.” His handiwork was soon ripped from his hands, prompting a brief scuffle in the crowd. That protester was also ejected by Trump’s security.

“That was a tense rally. Scary at points,” Tur said after the rally eventually calmed down.
