Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says President Trump is the “worst president” the U.S. has ever had.
“I think he is without question the worst president we’ve ever had. We’ve had some bad ones, and there’s not even a close second to him,” Reid, who is battling pancreatic cancer, told the New York Times. “He’ll lie. He’ll cheat. You can’t reason with him.”
Reid added the he felt Trump was not “immoral” but was “amoral.”
“Amoral is when you shoot someone in the head, it doesn’t make a difference. No conscience,” Reid said.
Reid said Congress can’t legislate properly when there is such a “weird” president in office.
“You can’t legislate when you have a chief executive who’s weird, for lack of a better description,” Reid said, adding that if he were working for Trump he wouldn’t be able to look his children in their eyes.
Reid said that although he does not speak to his successor Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., he often talks to Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.
“I talk to Nancy often. I love Nancy Pelosi,” Reid said.
He also defended his decision to end the Senate filibuster for most judicial nominees in 2013, a move that has allowed the GOP Senate to easily approve many of Trump’s judges.
“We had over 100 judges that we couldn’t get approved, so I had no choice,” Reid said. “Either Obama’s presidency would be a joke or Obama’s presidency would be one of fruition.”
