A South Florida man fatally shot his two young children on Tuesday before shooting himself, police say.
The Miami-Dade Police Department said it responded to a “domestic dispute” after 9:30 p.m., when officers discovered that a father had killed his 12-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son before committing suicide, according to local news reports.

“Earlier this evening officers responded to the scene of a shooting where a father senselessly shot and killed his 12-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son before killing himself. My deepest condolences to the family of the victims,” Miami-Dade Police Department Director Alfredo Ramirez III tweeted.
Police confirmed that the mother was in the home at the time of the shooting and was not injured.

Police have not released further details about the incident or the identity of the victims and father.
