Laughter erupted from the Democrats after President Trump claimed to have begun draining the “swamp” during his address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night.
Early in his speech, the president referred to the executive order he signed last month that bans on lobbying by former administration officials for five years.
“We have begun to drain the swamp of government corruption,” Trump began, which provoked a spat of laughter. He then called for “imposing a five-year ban on lobbying by executive branch officials.”
