President Trump believes the media and Democrats have helped cause a revival among American churches.
“I got a call the other night from pastors, the biggest pastors, evangelical Christians. They said, ‘We have never seen our religion or any religion so electrified,'” the president told reporters Friday. “They say they have never seen anything like it. Churches are joining hundreds of thousands of people. And you know, that’s to a large extent because of you, and your partner, the Democrats.”
Trump has long touted his ties to evangelical leaders and his high support among evangelical voters.
In June, supporters of the president held a “special day of prayer” for Trump. That same month, the president also stopped by a mega-church outside of Washington, D.C., to pray for the victims of the Virginia Beach massacre.
