HOUGHTON, Mich. (AP) — The Michigan Tech Research Institute has a $1 million contract to conduct radar-related research for the U.S. military.
Houghton-based Michigan Technological University on Thursday announced the 6-month contract with the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

The school said the Ann Arbor-area Michigan Tech Research Institute’s contract could be extended to five years and be worth $9 million.
The institute will work to develop an approach to separating and analyzing radar signals by the function they are intended to perform.
