House Republicans, who are on track to gain more than 10 new seats, reelected their leadership team in a closed-door meeting Tuesday.
Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California will again serve in that capacity, maintaining his post after the GOP outperformed polling that predicted his party losing up to 15 seats.

Rep. Gary Palmer of Alabama was elected as Republican Policy Committee chairman.
House Democrats will hold leadership elections beginning on Wednesday.
