The price of oil closed higher Tuesday, holding on stubbornly to recent gains and causing pain at the pump for U.S. drivers as the national average for gasoline topped $3.70 a gallon for the first time since May.
On the New York Stock Exchange:
Benchmark crude rose 70 cents to end at $93.43 a barrel.
Wholesale gasoline rose 1.07 cents to finish at $3.0014 a gallon.
Heating oil rose 1.63 cents to end at $3.0346 a gallon.
Natural gas rose 10.5 cents to finish at $2.8340 per 1,000 cubic feet.
On the ICE Futures exchange in London:
Brent crude rose 43 cents to end at $114.03 a barrel.
