The Crusaders, however, handed the Mids their worst conference defeat, 79-60, on Jan. 20, as they limited Patriot League scoring leader Chris Harris to 13 points on 4 of 19 shooting.

Three straight losses have damaged the hopes of AU (7-18, 4-6) for a first round home game in the Patriot League Tournament. Army (13-11, 3-7) arrives with similar questions. After a promising start, the Black Knights have lost five of six. One reason for the Army fade — a lack of inside presence. The Black Knights’ top rebounder is 5-11 guard Josh Miller (4.8 pg).

UMass (10-15, 4-7) and GW (13-10, 3-7) are among six teams scrambling to avoid 13th place. UMass has won two straight behind senior guard Ricky Harris, who has averaged 26.3 over the last six games.
