Donald Trump Jr. is seeking greater privacy and has decided to eliminate Secret Service protection, effective starting last week. A separate report indicated White House counselor Kellyanne Conway also chose to end her Secret Service protection.
The Trump family has received criticism for having the Secret Service accompany the many members of the family, who are using funds from taxpayers to accommodate the security costs. Additionally, due to the number of Trump family members needing protection, the Secret Service requires the agency to alternate shift agents, preventing the agents from working on criminal cases and investigations and forcing them to provide security to the family, according to the New York Times.
While President Trump’s other children and grandchildren will still have the protection of Secret Service, no decision concerning Trump Jr.’s wife, Vanessa, and their five children has been announced yet.
Trump Tower will also still receive Secret Service protection.
Kellyanne Conway, counselor to the President, may also be foregoing Secret Service protection, according to Jim Acosta from CNN.

The Secret Service is required by law to safeguard the president’s immediate family, unless instructed otherwise.
