Republicans: Give governors more school say

WASHINGTON (AP) — Education Secretary Arne Duncan and his successors would be relegated to cheerleaders for the nation’s schools, and governors would be put in charge of classrooms under companion bills Senate and House Republicans introduced Thursday.
