Ellen DeGeneres hosted a Halloween party on her show, during which she brought on young children and added an impeachment-themed twist to one of their costumes.
The host of Ellen revealed the children and their costumes one by one during the Wednesday segment, and the second child to face the live studio audience was dressed as a gardener with a leaf blower. DeGeneres said she wanted to make his costume “a little more current” and pulled out a whistle for him.
After hanging it around his neck, she had him give it a blow and said, “Now you’re a whistleblower.” DeGeneres then had the child say “quid pro quo” before she gave him some candy.
House Democrats are currently in the process of impeaching President Trump over accusations, which were the subject of a whistleblower complaint, that he offered Ukraine’s president a quid pro quo to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden in exchange for military aid.
DeGeneres said in 2017 that she would never have Trump on her show because he has “enough attention” and she does not want to give him a platform.
