Pete Buttigieg is writing a second book.
The former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, announced Wednesday that Trust: America’s Best Chance will be released Oct. 6, less than a month before Election Day.
Buttigieg, a former 2020 presidential candidate who has helped fundraise for Joe Biden, said he is trying to “start a new conversation” about the lack of trust people have in U.S. institutions and in fellow citizens.
“Our democracy depends on high levels of trust,” he said, “but social and political trust have been moving in the wrong direction.”
I’m working on a new book called Trust: America’s Best Chance, set to come out on October 6th.
In order for our country to move forward, it will be more important than ever to build trust—in our institutions and leaders, in each other, and around the world in America itself. pic.twitter.com/Ek8IB44dch

Buttigieg released his first book, a memoir, Shortest Way Home: One Mayor’s Challenge and a Model for America’s Future, in early 2019.
