CNN Cherry Picks Poll Results to Support Dubious Claim

Published

Over at National Review Online, Ramesh Ponnuru highlights a CNN story entitled, “Voters sick and tired of health care debate.”  Ponnuru notes that the story offers essentially no evidence to support the claim made in its headline.  It’s also worth noting that the CNN story cherry picks one question from CNN’s latest health care poll, in the process painting a false picture of Obamacare’s popularity.

CNN highlights a question that asked voters whether they like “provisions” of Obamacare, rather than asking them about Obamacare as a whole.  By a margin of 5 percentage points (52 to 47 percent), registered voters said that they favor “most” or “all,” rather than opposing “most” or “all,” of Obamacare’s provisions.  That’s the sole result from its own poll that CNN highlights in its story.
