McConnell: Democrats would filibuster Ruth Bader Ginsburg if Trump nominated her

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell Wednesday blasted the Democratic minority’s upcoming “unprecedented partisan filibuster” coming against Judge Neil Gorsuch’s Supreme Court nomination.

McConnell said Tuesday’s procedural vote to allow debate on Gorsuch to proceed proved Democrats will seek to block Gorsuch by any means.

“Judge Neil Gorsuch is one of the most impressive nominees we’ve ever seen,” McConnell said, adding that if Gorsuch cannot get confirmed, then no Republican president’s high court nominee could.

“Democrats would filibuster Ruth Bader Ginsburg if President Trump nominated her,” McConnell said.

McConnell urged Democrats to reconsider their support for the filibuster and think about how their actions could impact future Supreme Court nominations.
