Gene Simmons: ‘Trump is changing the game’

Rock ‘n roll legend Gene Simmons hasn’t yet determined which presidential candidate he’ll support in the general election, but he is a fan of the change Republican front-runner Donald Trump has brought to this election cycle.

“The important thing about Trump, and I’m not saying whether I’m voting for him, or Hillary [Clinton], or anybody else, is that he has changed the game,” the Kiss frontman told People magazine over the weekend.

“He doesn’t want your money. This guy funds his own campaign, and he is going to say things that tens of millions of people actually say quietly because politically it’s ‘incorrect,'” Simmons said of Trump.

Simmons competed on Trump’s reality TV show “The Celebrity Apprentice” in 2007 before he was “fired” by the New York billionaire during episode No. 3. The rock legend believes Trump’s bluntness during both his reality TV stint and presidential bid is a breath of fresh air in politics.

“I think people are sick and tired of politicians who have words that are written by other people,” he said. “And they are trying to cater and make everybody happy.”

Simmons added, “[Trump] doesn’t care.”

Trump is set to take home a big win on Tuesday in both his and Simmons’ home state of New York. The real estate mogul currently carries a 30-point lead over his opponents in primary polls of Empire State Republicans.
