DEWITT, N.Y. (AP) — A 35-year-old nurse from suburban Syracuse has admitted sleeping on the job, leading to the death of a group home resident who received inadequate oxygen overnight.
Tanya Lemon pleaded guilty Thursday to felony endangering the welfare of a disabled person. As part of a plea deal, she admitted routinely sleeping on the job at the state-run Briarwood Lane group home in DeWitt.
The prosecution was handled by the state’s Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. They recommended a 90-day jail sentence to Onondaga County Court Judge Thomas Miller, who agreed with it.
Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 12.
