NEDERLAND, Colo. (AP) — Xcel Energy is apologizing and offering more than $50,000 in refunds to Nederland residents following a winter of widespread electrical outages related to a large-scale power line replacement project.
Residents who attended a Nederland Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday were asked to turn in claims for their power problems.
According to the Boulder Daily Camera (http://tinyurl.com/k5zpuwa ), residents say outages have been taking place without warning once or twice a week and they sometimes last for hours.
The town’s 1,100 customers are each being offered $50 if they experienced five outages of five minutes or more or one outage of 24 hours or greater.
