Whole Foods workers are accusing the grocery store chain of punishing those who don “Black Lives Matter” apparel in a lawsuit.
The 14 plaintiffs in the suit, filed in federal court in Boston, said Whole Foods has sent workers home without pay or has imposed other disciplinary actions for wearing masks or clothes affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement.
The company, which is owned by Amazon, has said that wearing clothing with “visible slogans, messages, logos, or advertising” not directly related to its brand is in violation of its dress code.
Whole Foods declined to comment on the lawsuit, but said it has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to retaliation.
More plaintiffs are expected to join the suit, according to Reuters.
