A Baltimore County man was arrested on murder charges in the shooting Tuesday night of his stepsister?s boyfriend in Essex, police said.
David A. Cullum, 49, of the 3700 block of Bay Drive, is accused of shooting Billy W. Corbitt hours after Cullum?s stepsister showed up at his home saying her boyfriend had beaten her, police said.
Corbitt, 39, came to Cullum?s home soon after the stepsister did, bearing a handgun and saying he was going to kill her, police said. When he didn?t find her at Cullum?s home, Corbitt said he would come back later, police said.
Corbitt did return at least six hours later, police said, but by then Cullum had a rifle. He shot the gun twice as Corbitt came toward him, police said, hitting Corbitt once in the upper body.
Corbitt was pronounced dead at Franklin Square Hospital. Cullum is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
