Vice President Mike Pence and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen will travel from Washington, D.C., to Texas Friday to tour the U.S.-Mexico border in the Rio Grande Valley, his office announced Thursday morning.
Pence will fly into San Antonio then travel to McAllen, Texas, located in the southern-most tip of the Lone Star State.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials based at the Rio Grande Valley Sector and other law enforcement officers will meet with Pence to discuss the issues they face at the border.
The Rio Grande Valley Sector reported the highest level of illegal immigrant apprehensions of the nine total Border Patrol sectors in fiscal 2017.
