President Trump views the Democratic showmanship at this week’s confirmation hearing for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh as an audition for potential 2020 challengers.
But so far, he’s not seeing any worthy adversaries.
In a transcript of an interview with the Daily Caller this week that was published in full on Wednesday, Trump said he’d “love to run” against Sens. Cory Booker and Kamala Harris, both Democrats on the Judiciary Committee who voraciously vocalized their opposition to moving forward with Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing.
“Yeah, I mean, I hope they are, ’cause I’d love to run against them. So far, I don’t see anybody,” he said, before knocking another prominent Democrat: former Secretary of State John Kerry. “I saw John Kerry is looking, I like that very much. He’s the father of the Iran deal,” he continued.

Trump was then prompted to respond to the prospect of former Vice President Joe Biden making a presidential run.
“I’d love Joe Biden, sleepy Joe. I’d love Joe Biden to run. It looks like they’re going to have a lot of people lining up, but so far, and I’m an honest guy, I’ll let you know if there’s anybody I see that could be trouble,” he said before turning back to the confirmation hearing. “But so far, I’m not seeing it. I think they’re using this hearing as an audition for the presidency.”
Trump also ripped the Democrats who participated in the first day of the Kavanaugh hearing on Twitter, calling them “mean, angry, and despicable.”
