Pilot killed in Long Island Sound plane crash

MATTITUCK, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities on eastern Long Island say a man died in a single-engine crash in Long Island Sound.

Southold Town Police say the crash happened shortly before 9 a.m. Monday about 7 miles north of the Mattituck Inlet. That is between Long Island and the southern coast of Connecticut.
