Nikki Haley calls on China to act on North Korea

American Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is calling on China to act on North Korea.

“Done talking about NKorea.China is aware they must act.Japan & SKorea must inc pressure. Not only a US problem. It will req an intl solution,” Haley said in a tweet on Sunday.

The tweet from Haley comes after President Trump said he was “disappointed” in China following North Korea’s Friday test of an intercontinental ballistic missile, its second this month.

“I am very disappointed in China,” Trump wrote in a two posts on Twitter earlier on Sunday. “…they do NOTHING for us with North Korea, just talk. We will no longer allow this to continue. China could easily solve this problem!”

North Korea also launched a long-range weapon on July 4, one with the range to reach as far as Chicago by some estimates.

China on Saturday condemned the missile tests, and asked North Korea — a longtime ally — to “stop taking actions that would escalate tensions.”

On Sunday, North Korea said it “respond with firm action” if the U.S. continues to pursue sanctions against Pyongyang, the Korean Central News Agency said, quoting a foreign ministry spokesman.

Also on Sunday, the U.S. Missile Defense Agency said it conducted a “successful” test of its Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system in Alaska in which it intercepted a medium-range ballistic missile fired from a U.S. military aircraft over the Pacific Ocean.
