Aaron Rodgers calls sports commentator ‘a bum’ over MVP vote stance

Aaron Rodgers shot back at a journalist who openly declared he isn’t voting for the Green Bay Packers quarterback to be NFL MVP.

Hub Arkush, a Chicago-based sports commentator and Associated Press MVP voter, is “an absolute bum,” Rodgers told reporters during a press conference on Wednesday.

“He doesn’t know me. I don’t know who he is. No one knew who he was, probably, until yesterday’s comments,” Rodgers added.

Arkush has since conceded that he “made a big mistake” since making the offending comments while disclosing his voting plans during an interview on 670 The Score in Chicago.

“I don’t think you can be the biggest jerk in the league and punish your team and your organization and your fan base the way he did and be the most valuable player,” Arkush said in the interview.

Although Arkush acknowledged Rodgers might be “the most valuable on the field,” he claimed Rodgers is not more valuable than players such as “Jonathan Taylor or Cooper Kupp or maybe even Tom Brady.”

Rodgers speculated that the controversy over his COVID-19 vaccination status led to the comments.

“He doesn’t know anything about me,” Rodgers said. “I’ve never met him. I’ve never had lunch with him. I’ve never had an interview with him. His problem is I’m not vaccinated.”

Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19 on Nov. 3 and missed a game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

News of Rodgers receiving a positive test result came after he had told reporters in an August interview that he was “immunized” against the coronavirus, leading some to believe he was vaccinated.

Although Rodgers first insisted he “didn’t lie” about his vaccination status, Rodgers apologized days later, taking “full responsibility” and noting he could understand how certain comments he made might have misled people.
