CNN’s Chris Cuomo announced that both he and his wife have recovered from the coronavirus after both were diagnosed weeks ago.
Cuomo, who has been quarantining himself in the family’s basement, reemerged from it for the first time in weeks on Monday, noting that he had received the green light to leave isolation.
“All right, here it is, the official reentry from the basement, cleared by the CDC,” the 49-year-old stated in a video posted on Instagram.
“This is what I’ve been dreaming of, literally, for weeks,” the anchor continued. “My wife. She was cleared by the CDC. She doesn’t have a fever. She doesn’t have the symptoms anymore. … This is the dream, just to be back up here doing normal things.”
“I’m back,” Cuomo added after thanking his children for their good behavior.
The CNN anchor recently got into a spat with a stranger on Easter Sunday after the man, who later filed a police report, berated him for being outside with his family despite his diagnosis.
“I want to be able to tell you to go to hell, to shut your mouth. … I don’t get that doing what I do for a living,” he said of the incident, lamenting that his public notoriety prevents him from doing so. “Me being able to tell you to shut your mouth or I will do you the way you guys do each other.”
